The Basics of Project B.A.S.I.C
Better Attitudes & Skills in Children has been in operation since the fall of 1985 serving elementary school students in Tennessee. Project B.A.S.I.C. provides educational, yet entertaining activities to help students build self-esteem and learn decision-making skills. The self-confidence developed by the B.A.S.I.C. program will help the student to make good choices now, and throughout the years to come.

Twice a month the Project B.A.S.I.C. Child Development Specialist goes into the classroom. For thirty minutes, the specialist leads the students in activities using stories, booklets and puppets. Through these activities the students develop skills that help them better to cope with school.

Project B.A.S.I.C. is funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
